Norway has the highest standards of living for its citizens, according to an annual report by the United Nations (UN).

A total of 15 European states were included in the list of 20 best
countries to live in. Data collected by the United Nations showed
people in Norway, Australia and Iceland had the best living standards.
The next countries to reach the top spots were Canada, Ireland, and the
Netherlands.

Japan ranked 10th, while the Untied States ranked 13th. New Zealand is the 20th one.

According to the report, Belarus took the 68th place, Russia was 71st, and Ukraine ranked 85th.

Criteria examined included life expectancy, literacy rates, and country economies.

However, the UN made the report using data collected in 2007, before
the global economic crisis. Iceland ranked the third, as its economy
was stable enough before the global recession.
