At least 8 of 12 sailors from the Vasily, a Mongolian-flagged ship that sank near Kerch early on Monday, have been rescued. One sailor has been found dead, with at least two others are missing, wire agencies reported on Oct. 11.
The dead sailor was a citizen of Russia, the press service of the main department of the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry in Crimea reported.
The Associated Press reported that Russians and one Ukrainian had been rescued, with two Russians and one Ukrainian still missing.
The rescued sailors have been rescued were found in life rafts.
Rescuers deployed boats and a helicopter to search for the missing sailors.
