The Kyiv-based Obkom website on Jan. 31 reported that a 25-year old man who claimed he was beaten by police trying to obtain a confession that he sold a tractor is, in fact, not a journalist and was not beaten up.
"As of this moment, the it has been established that this individual neither has no ties with Channel 5 TV or journalism," the Obkom website quoted Yuriy Sulaev, spokesman for Poltava regional police, as saying.
