You're reading: US Vice-President Biden comes to Kyiv for visit

U.S. Vice-President Joseph Biden arrived in Ukraine at midnight on Dec. 7 for a visit.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko welcomed Biden at the airport. They are due to meet on Dec. 8.

The U.S. vice-president will hold negotiations with Ukrainian officials, will meet with Ukrainian society members and will address the Ukrainian parliament during his visit to Ukraine on Dec. 7-8.

Negotiations between Biden, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk are planned for December 7.

The meeting with civil society representatives will be dedicated to the reforms in Ukraine.

The U.S. vice-president will speak in the Ukrainian parliament and meet with Klitschko on Tuesday.

A White House representative said before the visit that Biden would express U.S. support for Kyiv amid the ongoing armed conflict in Donbas.
