The Prosecutor General's Office has found no evidence of violations of the law in the presentation of state awards, Presidential Press Secretary Iryna Vannykova told journalists in Kyiv on Friday.

According to her, the Prosecutor General’s Office checked evidence
from an article entitled “Venal fame of the country: $250,000 for a
star of the hero,” which was published in the Segodnia newspaper.

A letter from Prosecutor General’s Office to Ukrainian President
Viktor Yuschenko said that the information given by MP Andriy Senchenko
to a journalist “is his personal opinion and he didn’t have the
intention of asking the law enforcement agencies to bring an action.”

There are therefore no reasons for the prosecutor’s office to take any action, Vannykova said.

Earlier, Yuschenko sent a letter to Prosecutor General Oleksandr
Medvedko with a request to check the information given in the article,
which was published in the Segodnia newspaper on September 8.
