You're reading: Wall Street Journal: EU extends sanctions on Russian officials over Ukraine crisis

BRUSSELS - The European Union extended its asset freeze and travel ban against 150 Russian officials and pro-Moscow separatists in Ukraine for another six months amid continued conflict in the east of the country.

The decision on Sept. 15 coincides with fresh debate within the bloc on the separate economic sanctions it also imposed on Moscow two years ago. The measures, alongside similar sanctions imposed by the U.S. and others, have weighed down on the Russian economy.
