Kyiv, Ukraine—Ukraine's opposition leader accused the West of turning a blind eye to what she called the "harsh force" of authoritarianism in the former Soviet republic. Yulia Tymoshenko, heroine of Ukraine's 2004 Orange Revolution, said President Viktor Yanukovych is squeezing her party, clamping down on the media and eroding the "democratic foothold" the country represents in a region of strongman rulers.
