The European Union and international lenders told Ukraine's state gas company, Naftogaz, it needs only half the financing it has demanded to avoid a further European gas-supply crisis this winter.At a meeting in Brussels, the EU and international financial institutions told Naftogaz executives they believe Ukraine needs $2 billion to fund its gas purchases, rather than the $4.2 billion the company said earlier this month was required, according to two people familiar with the talks.
