You're reading: Yanukovych: government to use next year’s budget to benefit politically from presidential election campaign

The government will use the draft state budget for 2010 to gain political capital during the presidential election campaign, Regions Party leader Viktor Yanukovych has said.

“The government’s draft [state budget] for 2010 will be another form
of populism and another attempt to collect some points for the next
election, using the budget,” he said live on regional television in
Zhytomyr on Tuesday.

He said he was sure that next year’s budget would be “as risky” as the state budget for 2009.

“This budget [for 2009] is bringing nothing but problems,” Yanukovych said.
