The signing of a memorandum on deepening cooperation between Ukraine and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) enables Ukraine to participate in the work of Customs Union agencies and express its point of view, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

“A representative of our government will participate in the meetings of this commission, and the president will participate in the meetings of the council of presidents,” the presidential press service quoted him as saying at a meeting with the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada and the leaders of parliamentary factions on Wednesday.

Yanukovych said that Ukraine’s trade with the countries of the Customs Union is worth about $63 billion

“It’s very important that we have this tool, which will help at least maintain the trade between our countries,” he said.

During the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of topical issues of domestic and foreign policy, as well as the economic situation in the country.
