You're reading: Yanukovych spent Hr 322 million on election campaign

President-elect Viktor Yanukovych spent Hr 321.993 million on his election campaign, reads an announcement published in Uriadovyi Kurier newspaper.

In all, Hr 322.546 million were transferred to the election fund of Yanukovych, all the money from the Party of Regions.

Yanukovych spent Hr 17.313 million on production of canvassing materials, Hr 281.532 million on using mass media, Hr 5.189 million on other services related to canvassing, and Hr 17.959 to other ends.

Upon completion of the campaign Hr 553,000 left in the election fund.

The report was submitted on February 18.

As earlier reported, Yanukovych in November 2009 opened a deposit account of a president candidate’s election fund in the First Ukrainian International Bank, ranking among Ukraine’s biggest.

The Central Electoral Commission on February 14 declared Yanukovych the president based on the election outcome.

At the runoff Yanukovych won 48.95% votes and his rival Yulia Tymoshenko, the prime minister 45.47%.
