Ukraine needs help from the West and East in tackling the economic crisis, and relations with Russia and countries of the former Soviet Union are a priority, presidential election winner Victor Yanukovych said on Feb. 10.
In a written statement, Yanukovych called on defeated rival Prime Minister Yulia Tymosehnko to resign and enter opposition. Tymoshenko is contesting the result of Sunday’s election, which Yanukovich won by 3.48 percent according to official preliminary figures.
