You're reading: Yatseniuk: 2010 may bring economic stabilization

Leader of NGO Front of Changes Arseniy Yatseniuk considers that in the best case, the year 2010 will be a period of stabilization in the recession, and the next two years – 2011 and 2012 - may see a return to economic growth.

“I do not exclude that in 2010 the first signs of the economic growth will appear – 2-3%. [But] this is only thanks to one factor – it has fallen by 30%. The economy has fallen so low that even a [merely] operating enterprise be able to show achievements on the field of the Ukrainian economy,” the Front of Changes press office reported.

Yatseniuk said that the situation of the stabilization in Ukraine mainly depends on what measures are carried out, and “whether there is an action plan.”

“It is important to know not when the crisis [will end], but what it is necessary to do. The main and the most important thing is that the country needs fresh industrialization. The country needs an era of new plants, new manufacturing, new infrastructure and new construction. This is the only recipe for overcoming the crisis,” he said.

“A functioning economy is the only recipe for overcoming any economic crisis, especially such a long and complicated crisis as the one in Ukraine. There is no other recipe. An economy that provides first of all jobs, and secondly, exports, determines the [fate of] the national currency. A strong national currency can’t exist in a weak economy. These things are tied to each other,” Yatseniuk said.
