The term for office of the present governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) expirees in December 2009, and the new president should propose a candidate for the post of the new governor to the parliament, according to Head of Front of Changes public initiative Arseniy Yatseniuk.
“It should not be as in December 2004 [when the NBU governor was
elected before the new president assumed the office,” he told
Interfax-Ukraine at the sixth YES (Yalta European Strategy) summit.
Yatseniuk said that he as a candidate for the post, although he did not disclose the name of the person.
