Leader of NGO Front of Changes Arseniy Yatseniuk has said it is necessary to prolong external independent student testing in Russian in some regions of Ukraine through 2010.
“We currently have no right to cause additional tension. What should
we be doing: helping a child pass a test and learn, or dealing with
political confrontation?” he said at a press conference in Simferopol
on Tuesday.
According to him, the day will come “when we are able to give up the
two-model system of external language testing, but we are still not
ready to do this. If we are not ready, then we will prolong
[independent testing in Russian] in specific regions, and one such
region is, of course, Crimea.”
