Leader of NGO Front of Changes Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that Ukraine has no alternative to preserving the nation's integrity.
“We just have no other way. If we follow the [lead] of those who
raise the issues of language, NATO, the EU, Russia, the Black Sea
Fleet, OUN-UPA [the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists – the
Ukrainian Insurgent Army], and the Second World War, we’ll live like
this – western Ukraine will occupy four or five regions, while eastern
and central Ukraine will be separated. These will be three different
states,” his organization quoted him as saying live on the New
Television of the Region in Kolomyya, Ivano-Frankivsk region, on Monday.
Yatseniuk said that “Donetsk is also [part of] Ukraine, although people speak Russian there.”
“Coalminers in eastern Ukraine, as well as those from western
Ukraine, descend to a depth of 1,000 meters where it’s 55 degrees
[centigrade] and there’s nothing to breathe. They are the same
Ukrainians as those from western Ukraine,” he said.
“We should realize that Lviv is worthy of nothing without Donetsk,
while Donetsk is worthy of nothing without Ivano-Frankivsk. This is the
only way out for Ukraine. We don’t need a torn state,” he said.
