Ukraine is counting on more extensive support from the West, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said.
“Not meaning to make comparisons, Greece has received $300 billion
but they have neither war nor Russian tanks [on their territory] and
they are not fighting against a nuclear power. In turn, Ukraine has
received $30 billion in total support from the IMF and G7,” Yatseniuk
said at the international conference supporting Ukraine in Kyiv on
Tuesday.
According to him, the Ukrainian government has completed a number of
reforms and taken preparatory measures but a lot will depend on the
limit of tolerance of the Ukrainian people. “Believe me, the Ukrainian
people are living a very hard life, their living standards has
drastically declined. And it is a task of our government to make the
life of average Ukrainians better,” he said.
“Please, support our country, it deserves your support. Together we
can prevail and win a war against kleptocracy and poverty,” Yatseniuk
said.
