You're reading: Yatsenyuk, European Parliament discuses political situation in Ukraine and local elections results

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk and a delegation of members of the European Parliament met in Kyiv and discussed the political situation in Ukraine, the results of the recent local elections in the country, and the assessment of the elections by international observers on Nov. 4.

“Yatsenyuk underlined how important the assistance rendered to Ukraine by EU member states is, and added that Ukrainian society expects the comprehensive support of MEPs in the extension of sanctions against Russia and in granting a visa free regime for Ukrainian citizens for the EU,” the government’s press service has reported.

Anna Maria Corazza Bildt, a Swedish MEP (Moderate Coalition Party) expressed her support for Ukraine and noted the efforts of the government in carrying out difficult economic reforms.

Head of the European Parliament Election Monitoring Mission MEP Andrej Plenkovic (Croatian Democratic Union) said that despite the uneasy situation in Ukraine all branches of power need to demonstrate coherence and provide stability in fulfilling the reforms needed for Ukraine’s European integration.
