Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko is anxious about the current freedom of speech in Ukraine.

The president said this while opening a meeting on the issues of the
freedom of speech and the development of TV and radio broadcasting in
Kyiv on Wednesday.

“I am anxious at the situation with the freedom of speech, especially that observed last time,” Yushchenko said.

The head of state said that the freedom of speech and the freedom of
choice are the two fundamental things, which the state independence is
based on.

“There should not be any compromises, when the freedom of speech is threatened,” Yushchenko said.
