Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has claimed that Ukraine's parliament is working according to "a designed scenario" and both the parliamentary majority and the opposition are responsible for this.
He was speaking in an interview with Ukrainian journalists in New York on Tuesday.
“The current situation in parliament is a specially designed scenario,” the Ukrainian president said.
He said that the two forces forming the majority bear full political
responsibility for such a situation. In particular, they are
responsible for the fact that budget-approval process has been
interrupted and a quarter of the heads of district administrations have
yet to be appointed.
“A parliament that does not work is a parliament that is out of control,” the president said.
“[Voters] gave mandates to the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko and the
Regions Party – millions of deceived people supported them,” Yuschenko
said.
He also claimed that today the political parties have “only one
goal: by any means possible give power to those political forces that
will ruin the state.”
According to the Ukrainian president, “the situation in the parliament is everyone’s fault.”
At the same time he expressed confidence that “patriots who have national priorities” will save Ukraine.
