Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko considers that the Constitution won't be amended before the presidential election.
“It is obvious that the Constitution won’t be amended before the
presidential election,” Yushchenko has said at a press conference in
Kyiv.
At the same time, Yushchenko said that the issue on amending the
Constitution by January 17, 2010, has not been raised. “The issue was
formulated in another way: before the election every political force or
each leader laying a claim to leadership in the country should
announce, form his principles, if he wants to develop his country,”
Yushchenko said.
The head of state said if the nation loses the public discussion of
amendments to the Constitution and the discussion is not completed,
“this nation will lose the perspective of its future, democratic
future.”
