Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has met with representatives of the World Congress of Ukrainians.
Newly appointed Foreign Minister Petro Poroshenko, deputy head of
the presidential secretariat Yuriy Bohutsky, head of the Ukrainian
World Coordinating Council Dmytro Pavlychko, president of the World
Congress of Ukrainians Stefan Romaniv took part in the meeting, the
presidential press service reported.
Yushchenko expressed confidence that a number of projects with the
participation of the Ukrainian diaspora, firstly in humanitarian
sector, will be implemented. The president explained that he was
speaking about the use of the Ukrainian resources abroad to make the
country’s foreign policies more efficient.
The president said this is important that the Ukrainian diaspora
abroad could see and understand the objective view of political and
social processes in the country.
Yuschenko stressed that Ukraine appreciates the activities of the
foreign Ukrainians aimed at preserving the Ukrainian identity,
enhancing the country’s international standing, and the efforts aimed
at the international recognition of the Famine 1932-1933 in Ukraine.
