Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has said that the current government isn't able to sell the Odessa Port-Side Plant legally and in an economically profitable way, adding that the sale is not expedient today.
He said at a press conference in Kyiv that the issue of the sale of
the Odessa Port-Side Plant should be considered after the presidential
elections or maybe even after future parliamentary elections.
The president said that according to the assessment made by experts
two months ago, the value of assets of the enterprise was estimated to
be double the current price.
According to Yushchenko, “the absence of preparations and the absence
of conditions led to the fact that there were no main buyers who could
form [proper] prices, and the combination with the so-called sale of
the Odessa Port-Side Plant… allows the conclusion to be drawn that the
current government isn’t able to manage such national assets.”
