The Ukrainian president's office quoted President Victor Yushchenko as expressing anxiety in a television program on Thursday at the growth of domestic and foreign state debts and complained that the state would have to pay huge sums in 2010 to service them.
“In 2010, the servicing of domestic and foreign borrowings that have been made by the government will cost larger expenses than the financing of defense and health care put together,” a press release from the office quoted Yushchenko as saying in a program run by the Lviv regional television and radio company.
Yushchenko accused the government of putting together incompetent budgets for 2009 and 2010.
“The faulty, incompetent budget for this year, which was adopted at the request of the government and has not been balanced out after that has become the number-one brake on the economy of the country,” he said
