Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko believes that the government should provide for adequate budgetary financing and create economic stimuli to raise the efficiency of the agrarian policies in 2010.
The head of state said this at a meeting with the representatives of
the farming business in Kharkiv region, the presidential Web site
reported on October 3.
The president stressed that agriculture is a traditional sector for
Ukraine, which could help Ukraine’s economy overcome the crisis.
To attain this, the country needs competent agrarian policies, which
would create conditions for developing the farming businesses. To
achieve this one should develop the infrastructure, in particular
transport and elevators. Tariff policies should also be changed. They
should make the Ukrainian products more competitive on the foreign
markets, the president believes.
One of the preconditions for the development of the sector should be
the refusal of the attempts of administrative control, which has been
applied by the current government.
“Without a fair and market price it is impossible to restore the rural economy,” the president said.
