Underlying inflation in Ukraine in April 2014 slowed down to 4.6 percent after a rise of 10.8 percent a month earlier, the State Statistics Service has said.

According to its data, since the beginning of the year underlying inflation has reached 25.3 percent, while in annual terms (compared to the same month last year) – 47.1 percent compared to 44.6 percent in March, 33.2 percent – in February, 26.1 percent – in January, and 22.8 percent – for 2014.

Underlying inflation does not include short-term irregular changes in prices influenced by various factors of an administrative, event-based or seasonal character. For instance, it does not include changes in the price of food and energy.

Consumer prices in Ukraine in April 2015 increased by 14 percent, while in annual terms their growth reached 60.9 percent. The main reason was the increase in gas tariffs by 5.5 times and electricity by 33.6 percent from April 2015.
