Five Ukrainian servicemen have been killed and another ten have been injured in the army operation area in eastern Ukraine over the past 24 hours, National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
“Five Ukrainian servicemen have been killed and another ten have been injured as a result of shelling in the past 24 hours,” he said.
A total of 1,052 Ukrainian army soldiers have been killed since fighting broke out in Ukraine’s eastern regions in April, he added.
“According to official reports, a total of 1,052 Ukrainian servicemen have been killed in the course of the anti-terrorist operation [since mid-April],” Lysenko said.
Another 4,079 Ukrainian soldiers have been injured, some 400 are listed as missing, and another 399 are being held by the militants, he said.
Three Ukrainian soldiers were killed and another three were injured in an armed clash with militants near the village of Berezove in the Mariyinsky district of the Donetsk region, Lysenko said.
“Terrorists armed with mortars and grenade launchers attacked a platoon stronghold not far from the village of Berezove near Donetsk. The attack was repelled. Regrettably, three Ukrainian servicemen were killed and another three were injured as a result of the gun battle,” he said.
Ten militants were killed, Lysenko claimed.
“The adversary sustained even bigger losses after Ukrainian artillery soldiers opened fire on the retreating militants,” he added.
