The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars Refat Chubarov is sure that the people responsible for the annexation of Crimea and the violation of human rights on the peninsula will be put on trial in a special international tribunal soon.
“For the first time in recent years, I celebrated Human Rights Day away from the motherland… For the first time, the current Crimean authorities didn’t allow mass rallies to celebrate the Human Rights Day… For the first, time a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars (in this case, my deputy Akhtem Chiyhoz) was called in for questioning on Human Rights Day,” Chubarov wrote on his Facebook page on Dec. 11.
“However, the development of international events shows unavoidably the unfortunate end for all those who stepped over the simple principles of peaceful coexistence with neighbors. Correspondingly, the time is coming, when we’ll see some familiar Crimean faces (some – for the first time) on trial in a special international tribunal,” Mejlis Chairman said.
As reported, the prosecutor of the Republic of Crimea, Natalya Poklonskaya personally warned Mejlis Deputy Chairman Akhtem Chiyhoz that it was unacceptable to hold mass rallies in Crimea on Dec. 10, Human Rights Day. Crimean authorities also prohibited the Mejlis from holding traditional rallies supporting the protection of Crimean Tatar rights in Simferopol on the same day.
