Basel - Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland said on Friday, Dec. 5 at the OSCE Ministerial Meeting held in Basel on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5 that the return to the 'cold war' epoch due to Ukraine would have dangerous consequences, the EFE news agency has reported.
We cannot say we have an open cold war, he said. Jagland said that there is a danger of entering the period of ‘cold war’ and it will take years to end it.
The both sides of the conflict in eastern Ukraine should make their contribution to its settling, he said.
Russia is to clearly say to separatists that the settling of the conflict is to be based on the unity of the Ukrainian state and Ukrainian authorities should create the constitutional basis for decentralization of power, Jagland added.
