The situation remains tense in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, on Oct. 17, the city administration said on its Web site.
“Heavy gunfire and powerful explosions can be heard in most districts,” it said.
Emergency services continue to restore power supplies to the city’s Voroshylovsky and Kyivsky districts.
The northern water utility of Donetsk is still being affected by a blackout, leaving the city’s Kyivsky district without water. Emergency services have announced that power supplies will soon be restored to an electrical substation that supplies electricity to the water utility. The situation with water supply is generally stable in the city.
