You're reading: EU names organizers of illegal rebel vote in eastern Ukraine that put on sanctions list

Brussels - The European Union in its Official Journal on Saturday, Nov. 29 named the list of individuals and organizations based in eastern Ukraine that will face sanctions for undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

According to the journal, 13 sanctioned individuals who will be banned from entering EU countries and the five sanctioned entities will have their assets in EU banks frozen.

The European Union put Sergey Kozyakov, who was commission chief during “the so-called elections in the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic on Nov. 2, 2014”, the first in its blacklist.

The blacklist also named such organizations as public organization Donetsk Republic, Peace to Luhansk Region (Russia: Mir Luganschine), “Free Donbass” (aka “Free Donbas”, “Svobodny Donbass”), People’s Union (Narodny Soyuz), and Luhansk Economic Union (Luganskiy Ekonomicheskiy Soyuz) since they presented candidates in the so-called elections of the self-declared Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.

“In participating formally in the illegal ‘elections’ it has therefore actively supported actions and policies which undermine the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, and to further destabilize Ukraine,” reads the EU’s Official Journal.
