The European Union will support the extension of sanctions against Russia if the latter fails to comply with the Minsk agreements, says Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

“We also discussed aspects of the future European Council summit in Brussels in June, which will consider the extension of the sanctions against the aggressor, the Russian Federation. And I am delighted to announce: Slovakia’s and the EU’s position is absolutely firm that, if the Minsk agreements are not fully implemented, the sanctions must be extended,” Poroshenko said at a joint press conference with the Slovak president in Kyiv on May 20.
