Ukraine’s president on Saturday ordered the army to raise the national flag over the eastern city of Slavyansk after pro-Russian separatist militants overnight fled from their stronghold in convoys of armoured personnel carriers, trucks and tanks. “The President gave the order . . . for the state flag to be raised over the Slavyansk city council,” said a statement on Petro Poroshenko’s presidential website.
