Five Ukrainian servicemen were killed in the south-east of Ukraine on June 3, four of them near the town of Maryinka, Ukrainian presidential adviser Yuriy Biriukov said on his Facebook account on June 4 morning.

“The final figures concerning the military losses for the past 24 hours are the following: five killed soldiers (of them four near Maryinka),” he said.

Thirty-nine Ukrainian soldiers were injured over this period as well, Biriukov said. They include one serviceman from the 43rd independent motorized infantry brigade, 26 from the 28th independent motorized rifle brigade, 11 from the 30th independent motorized rifle brigade, and one from the National Guard of Ukraine, he added.

Ukrainian government forces also lost one GAZ-66 and two UAZ-452 trucks, he said.

There has been almost no activity on the part of the militia since yesterday’s events, and “only three instances of shelling were registered from midnight to 7.00 a.m.,” Biriukov said.
