You're reading: Government to allocate Hr 150 million for terminals for issue biometric passports

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at a cabinet meeting on Nov. 5 will decide on the allocation of Hr 150 million to buy terminals to issue biometric passports, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said.

“The government is making the decision to allocate Hr 150 million to buy over 600 terminals to issue biometric passports with the purpose of the effective implementation of the visa-free regime,” he said.

The premier expressed dissatisfaction with the possibilities of issuing biometric passports by passport departments – only 35,000 a month.

Yatsenyuk believes that the purchase of terminals will allow providing almost each district with a possibility of quickly issuing biometric passports. He said that by the end of 2015, the system is to start operating.
