Odesa's military prosecutor has started a pre-trial investigation into the alleged desertion of three armed servicemen from a military base in the Odesa region.
A search has been started for the defectors, the press service of the Military Prosecutor’s Office for the Southern Region reported.
Three servicemen abandoned their military base in the village of Chornomorske in the Kominternivske district of Odesa region early on May 11, media reports said. They stole three AKS-74 automatic rifles before leaving their base.
Police said the three include two natives of Donetsk region and a native of Odesa region.
