You're reading: It will take some time for US sanctions against Russia to work – Kerry

BRUSSELS - U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has expressed his disagreement with the statement that Washington's policy toward Russia is not working.

“So I just completely and totally disagree with any premature assumption that it has failed,” he said at a press conference in Brussels on Dec. 2.

He recalled how the sanctions against South Africa during apartheid and against Iran’s nuclear program worked.

Kerry said that the U.S. administration does not rule out other approaches to the policy towards Russia. “No option has been taken off the table, but at this moment, no decision has been made, and that is not the direction we are moving at this moment,” he added noting that the U.S. ruled out the solution of the crisis in Ukraine by military means.
