MOSCOW - Russian State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin has said he will discuss the progress of the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland on the phone later on July 20.

“Yes, the contact will take place. We plan to get in touch with her on the phone tonight,” Karasin told Interfax, answering a question as to when he was due to have contact with Nuland.

The senior Russian diplomat said that the implementation of the Minsk agreements would be discussed in the telephone conversation.

“Whatever field we take there are problems which are so far being resolved with great difficulty,” Karasin said.

“These are constitutional reform, a whole set of political issues, demilitarization of Shyrokyne, which is another problem, the state of affairs along the contact line, which is also a problem directly related to security, humanitarian affairs, delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid, and economic rehabilitation of southeastern Ukraine. All of this is very important,” the Russian deputy foreign minister said.

“These are a set of issues on which a lot can and should be said,” he said. “Yet in addition to speaking one should also be acting.”
