You're reading: Klimkin says there must be unity in fighting Russian propaganda

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has called on the global community to unite in the fight against Russian propaganda.

“We’re really united, and it’s also a question to NATO, by the necessity to fight Russian propaganda. A virtual reality that has nothing in common with real scope of human values is being created in Russia. Absolutely everyone has understood it already,” Klimkin said at a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine inter-parliamentary council in Kyiv on June 8.

Klimkin said there were some very successful examples of fighting such propaganda, particularly in the Baltic states.

“We must unite our efforts, and we need counterpropaganda that I have never believed in, but [it’s] a very productive and sensible approach. A related brainstorming is already coming to an end in NATO. I’d like the EU to move faster in this direction. And this is where I see one of the unique elements of our future cooperation,” he said.
