The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has forwarded a note of protest to the Russian Foreign Ministry, says Yevhen Perebyinis, a Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman.

“The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry forwarded a note to the Russian foreign political agency, in which it expressed its protest against Russia’s continued acts of aggression against Ukraine, the provision of support to the LPR and DPR [the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic and Donetsk People’s Republic], the continuation of activities aimed at further escalating the situation in Ukraine, and the concentration of a Russian armed force group near the Ukrainian state border,” Perebyinis said at a news briefing on Tuesday.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said last week that Moscow intended to recognize the results of the Nov. 2 elections in the DPR and LPR.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Nov. 2 that the elections in the DPR and LPR would be lawful and would comply with the Minsk agreements. “The militias’ position on the organization of elections precisely on Nov. 2 is lawful and fully complies with the timeframe agreed upon within the framework of the Minsk agreements,” the ministry said in a statement.
