Moscow - The administration of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) has promised not to take Ukrainian troops prisoner and are saying they intend to release all POWs detained earlier.

“We are not taking new prisoners and we have no intention of dong so.
Generally, we never wanted to do it, unlike the Ukrainians, who continue
detaining people who are not related to us in any way. Some people are detained
for some careless words, and some get detained because they are registered to
live in Donetsk or Luhansk. And then they hand them over to us instead of our
officers. We, for our part, always hand over the people on the lists, mainly
officers,” Vladislav Deinego, a LPR representative in the negotiations of the
contact group, told Interfax.

Deinego confirmed that militants are ready to exchange all POWs for their
supporters as soon as possible.

“We are interested and we are doing everything to promote the exchange. Some
exchanges are taking place privately, when the relatives of detained Ukrainian
troops come and we help them find their loved ones. Exchanges are also being
made through public organizations. We are now working on the lists provided by
Ukraine and we are preparing the next large-scale exchange. It’s difficult to
say when it will happen. Everything will depend on Kyiv’s readiness,” Deinego
said.
