The situation is stable in the army operation zone in eastern Ukraine and the first line of defense has been built along the Ukrainian-Russian border, the Mariupol defense staff wrote on Facebook on Thursday, Nov. 13.

“The situation in the ATO zone is complicated but stable. A build-up of forces is in progress on the side of terrorist units and Russia. The Defense Ministry is closely monitoring the movements of hardware and convoys and possesses information about their positions,” the report said.

The first line of defense is ready and the second line of defense is under construction, the staff said. “Day after day the positions of antiterrorism operation forces are being reinforced with new engineering structures,” it noted.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has been repositioning forces which are prepared to repel militia operations.

“The situation is absolutely controllable and the armed forces are ready to respond to any change in the situation,” the staff said.

Intelligence units have affirmed the absence of a direct threat to Mariupol. There is no potentially threatening amassment of enemy hardware or manpower near the city limits.
