You're reading: Merkel dissatisfied with Moscow’s attitude to ‘elections’ in Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics

Berlin - German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday, Nov. 4 said she was dissatisfied with Russia's position on the so-called elections held in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics on Nov. 2, the Associated Press has reported.

“[The weekend’s events show] how difficult it is even to maintain agreements that have been made, if we look at the illegal elections,” AP quoted Merkel as saying.

She also added that “Russia isn’t yet contributing in the way we [in Europe] would like, particularly regarding Luhansk and Donetsk.”

The German chancellor again said that now there was no reason to lift economic sanctions against Moscow.
