As part of the project to optimize the National Guard of Ukraine it is proposed to increase its strength and create new units, in particular, form tank units and mechanized divisions, according to a draft coalition agreement proposed by the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko.
“The formation of armored and mechanized units through the introduction of respective changes to the structure,” reads the document.
It is also proposed to revise the location of permanent bases of National Guard units, in particular, taking into account an increase in the number and the creation of new units.
It is also proposed to introduce amendments to the legislation in order to secure the re-subordination of the National Guard to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the event of the introduction of the legal regime of martial law.
