Astana - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has discussed prospects for the development of bilateral relations in the security sphere and international agenda with Russian Security Council secretary Nikolai Patrushev in Astana on Feb. 18.

The parties in particular discussed the situation in southeastern Ukraine, the Kazakh presidential press service reported.

“The parties also discussed economic cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as new challenges posed by the situation in the Middle East and Afghanistan,” the press service said.

Patrushev is visiting Astana for regular consultations between the secretariats of the Kazakh and Russian security council, it said.
