You're reading: New truce generally holding in southeast Ukraine – NSDC

Both sides are generally observing the new ceasefire declared in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) said.

“We can say that shelling was stopped in a gradual and mutual manner in order to enforce the ceasefire regime,” NSDC spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Dec. 12.

Six instances of shelling with the use of small arms have been registered in the past 24 hours, but multiple-launch rocket systems and cannons have not been used, Lysenko said.

The self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics said earlier today that the truce, declared in southeaster Ukraine on Dec. 9, was generally holding in the region.
