As many as 445,176 people, including 122,600 children and 87,000 people with disabilities and the elderly, have been displaced from the area of the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine to other regions, National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko has said.
He said that in particular, about 49,000 internally displaced persons currently lived in the town of Artemivsk and Artemivsk district of Donetsk region – mostly retirees from the towns of Debaltseve and Horlivka in Donetsk region, “who actively provide documents to the local department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine regarding the provision of social benefits.”
“The similar situation is in Kostiantynivka, where about 59,000 internally displaced persons reside,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Sunday, Nov. 16.
