During an observation flight in the vicinity of Mariupol, Donetsk region, an OSCE unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was subjected to military grade GPS jamming by the forces of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), reads a report by the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM).

“At 13.01 and again at 13.19 the SMM UAV was subjected to serious electronic jamming while flying over ‘DPR’-controlled Chermalyk (40km NE of Mariupol),” reads the report posted on SMM website.

In turn, Air Operations Liaison Officer to the Anti-Terrorism Operation headquarters in Sector ‘M,’ who was immediately contacted by SMM, said that at 13.24, there had been no jamming by Ukrainian forces.

“The SMM UAV left the area and landed safely. This is the third serious interference with the movement of the SMM UAV and is an impediment to the fulfilment of the MISSION’S mandate,” OSCE said.
