The Ukrainian army has reported overnight attacks by illegal armed groups, who fired on its positions along the Bakhmutka highway with Grad rocket launchers and mortars, aiming to seize a strategic stretch of the road between Luhansk and Severodonetsk, the press center of the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine reported.
“They shelled a roadblock, and fortified and observation posts near the towns of Krymske, Donetsky and Vilkhove,” the press center wrote on Facebook on Wednesday morning.
One serviceman was killed and another was wounded in the Grad attacks on Ukrainian positions near the town of Schastia.
The militants again shelled Ukrainian positions at Donetsk airport on Wednesday morning. “A Ukrainian defender was injured in the attack. He is receiving medical assistance,” the press center said.
In turn, Kyiv-based Information Residence Group leader Dmytro Tymchuk reported over 50 attacks on Ukrainian positions in Donbas and two clashes between the Ukrainian army and militants during the past day.
Tymchuk wrote on Facebook on Wednesday that the enemy had been active in the Luhansk, Debaltseve and Donetsk sectors and tensions persisted at Donetsk airport, Krymske, Stanytsia Luhanska, Avdiyivka, Zaitseve, Chornukhyne, Novomykhailivka, Schastya and Nikishyne.
A new tactical group is being formed by the enemy near Pervomaisk, Tymchuk added.
