You're reading: PACE representatives to meet with Ukrainian refugees in Rostov region this December

ROSTOV-ON-DON - British members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will come to the Rostov region to meet with the displaced persons who were forced to flee their homes in Ukraine, a spokesperson for the Russian region's government told Interfax on Tuesday.

“The delegation of European parliamentarians will consist of the commission’s Rapporteur on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons Jim Sheridan and the commission’s Secretary David Milner. The PACE representatives from the United Kingdom will be in the Rostov region on Dec. 8 – 10 to speak to regional officials and Ukrainian refugees,” the spokesperson said.

The day before their arrival to Rostov-on-Don the PACE representatives will have a number of formal meetings in Moscow with Russian State Duma members, senior officials from Russia’s Federal Migration Service, and Spravedlivaya Pomoshch (Fair Aid), an international public organization. The MEPs are also scheduled to meet with representatives from the Union of Ukrainian Refugees.

Currently, there are 39,329 Ukrainians in the Rostov region, including 11,693 children, according to the regional government’s spokesperson.
